Vasiliki Kikna

Dancer, Choreographer
She was born in Poland. She studied at the Poznan Dance Academy. She was a member of the ballet of the Vrotslav Opera (Poland) for 13 years. She has collaborated with the Niki Kontaxaki Dance Group, reviving classical repertoire ballets (Serenade, Les Sylphides, The pirate [Le corsaire]), as well as with the Athens Concert Hall, in charge of the preparation of the Ballet Nights event. She is artistic advisor with the Maya Demopoulou Dance School and teaches at the Superior Professional and Amateur Dance School S. Morianova-L.Trasta. She was hired by the GNO as a dancer and during the period 1984-1999 she appeared in 23 productions or/and revivals of 12 ballets: Commedia, Giselle, Coppélia (Metsis/Delibes), Romeo and Juliet (van Dantzig/Prokofiev), Don Quixote (de Pian/Minkus), Memories (Metsis/Debussy), Sebastian (de Pian/Menotti), Cinderella [La Cenerentola] (Vinogradov/Prokofiev), Zorba (Massine/Theodorakis), The cursed snake [To katarameno fidi] (Massine/Hatjidakis), The Temple Dancer [La bayadère] and Pinocchio (Armitage/Melozzi). She also danced in the ballet segments in five operas: Adriana Lecouvreur, The tales of Hoffmann [Les contes d'Hoffmann], Don Pasquale, Hänsel and Gretel [Hänsel und Gretel] and The godson [O vaftistikos]. In recent years she has been working for the GNO also as assistant choreographer in works of classical repertoire.
