Lana Kos
Soloist, Soprano
She was born in Varazdin, Croatia in 1984. She studied at the Academy of Music Zagreb. She debuted at the age of 17 as Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte at the Croatian National Theater. She soon after accepted an invitation by Mstislav Rostropovich to perform Natasha Rostova [War and Peace] at the Bolshoi Theater, Moscow. In 2006 she signed a four-year contract with Munich’s Bavarian State Opera (Bayerische Staatsoper). Her career skyrocketed after she sang Violetta (La traviata), conducted by Carlo Ricci and directed by Hugo de Anna. Her repertoire includes, among others, the roles of Desdemona (Otello), Micaëla (Carmen), Juliet (Roméo et Juliette), Nedda (Pagliacci), the title roles in Luisa Miller and Manon, Marie (La fille du régiment), Mimì (La bohème), as well as the lead role in Leoš Janáček's opera The cunning little vixen [Příhody lišky Bystroušky]. She has sung in major operas around the world, including: London Royal Opera, Stockholm Royal Opera,Teatro Massimo Palermo, Arena di Verona Opera Festival, Lausanne Opera, Israeli Opera, Slovene National Theater Maribor, as well as in Sao Paolo, Beijing and Tel Aviv. She has made several recordings. She was awarded by the National Theater of Croatia for her performance as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor).
