Intendant and Chefregisseur of the Komische Oper Berlin. At the end of his first season (2012/13), Komische Oper was voted “Opera House of the Year” (Opernwelt magazine). Kosky was voted “Opera Director of the Year” at the International Opera Awards (London, 2014) and at the same awards in 2015 the Komische Oper was voted “Opera Company of the Year”. He has directed opera productions for the Bavarian State Opera (Die schweigsame Frau, The Fiery Angel), Glyndebourne Festival Opera (Saul), Frankfurt Opera (Dido and Aeneas, Bluebeard’s Castle, Carmen), Zurich Opera (La fancuilla del West, Macbeth). He has also presented his productions at the Los Angeles Opera, Teatro Real (Madrid), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Vienna State Opera, ENO, Oper Graz etc. In 2016/17 he made his debuts at Royal Opera House (London) and Bayreuth Festival.Born in Melbourne, he was Artistic Director of the 1996 Adelaide Festival and directed opera and theatre productions for Opera Australia, Sydney and Melbourne Theatre Companies and Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne International Festivals. He was Co-Artistic Director of the Schauspielhaus Wien (2001/05).
