Singer
She was born and raised in Crete. She studied literature and obtained a degree in Byzantine music. She engaged in music from an early age. She has participated in several record productions and has collaborated with renowned musicians and artists in Greece and abroad. Since 1999 she is member of the popular Cretan music group “Hainides”, and has been a founding member of the female vocal ensemble “Sanades”. She has participated in various traditional and folk music groups, both from Greece and the wider region of the Balkans (Bulgaria, Turkey), and has attended courses on Bulgarian and Turkish songs. She is a folk musician and singer, whose technique has been shaped by local Cretan music, as well as by her subsequent personal involvement in world music. She has formed a trio with Nikos Tatasopoulos and Demetris Mystakidis, who sing “rebetica” songs in a modern style. She writes music and lyrics for rock songs and her first recordings were in rock music. Her work was presented by the Greek National Radio and Television (ERT) in Lambros Liavas’ show “To alati tis gis” [The Salt of the Earth]. Her discography is still rather limited. She participated, as a member of a traditional polyphonic ensemble, in the world premiere of George Koumentakis opera The Murderess (Athens Concert Hall, 2014/15). // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of the productions below is complete.
