Francesco Landolfi
Soloist, Baritone
He was born in Caserta, Italy in 1977. He is a literature and philosophy graduate from the University of Naples. He also graduated from the Conservatorio Statale di Benevento where he studied under mezzo-soprano Monica Carletti and attended masterclasses and theatrical interpretation courses with distinguished teachers. He debuted at Salerno’s Verdi Theater in the operas Thaïs and The Journey to Reims [Il viaggio a Reims], while he distinguished himself as a performer of religious music works. Between 2006 and 2008 he won many awards and prizes at the international singing competitions Francesco Albanese, Toti dal Monte, Mattia Battistini, Mario Lanza ( Filignano), Luciano Neroni (Ripatransone), Ruggero Leoncavallo (Montalto Uffugo), Tommaso Traetta (Bitonto) and Tito Schipa (Lecce), as well as in the international opera competitions in Ravello, Campolieto and Alcamo. He has sung under the direction of renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Renato Palumbo and Bruno Bartoletti. He has appeared in provincial Italian operas but also in major theaters worldwide, including: Florence Musical May Theater, Rome Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Leipzig, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Seoul Arts Center and Royal Opera House Muscat (Oman). He sings leading baritone roles mainly in operas by Verdi and Puccini, such as: Nabucco [Nabucco], Lescaut [Manon Lescaut], Rigoletto [Rigoletto], Baron Scarpia [Tosca], Amonasro [Aida] and Ford [Falstaff].
