
Alexandra Matheoudaki
Soloist, Soprano
Born in Thessaloniki, she studied monody at the Athens Conservatoire under Kiki Morfoniou and continued at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Vera Rozsa, obtaining a postgraduate degree. At the same time, she also studied at City Lit drama school, attended repertory classes under Valda Plucknett and John Modinos and attended masterclasses with Sena Jurinac and Elizabeth Schwarzkopf. She was a member of the London City Opera and appeared in the roles Donna Anna [Don Giovanni], Micaëla [Carmen], etc. She gave recitals in London, at St Martin-in-the-Fields, as well as in Oxford, Cambridge, Sweden, Germany and Greece. She performed frequently at the Thessaloniki Opera, State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Symphony Orchestra of the City of Athens, Athens Concert Hall and Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Cyprus Opera Organization and at opera houses in Romania. She performed at the Kraiova Opera the roles of Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) and Micaela (Carmen), while in 2011 she gave recitals in Prague and Munich. She first worked with the GNO in 1989, singing leading and supporting soprano roles in such productions as Hänsel und Gretel, The return [O gyrismos], Die Zauberflöte, The Medium, La traviata, Das Dreimädelhaus, Adriana Lecouvreur, Il matrimonio segreto, Thais, Le nozze di Figaro, Peter Grimes, The Cretan Girl [I Kritikopoula], Remember those years (tribute to Sakellaridis), The Apaches of Athens, Christina etc. She passed away in 2023. // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of productions below is continually updated.
