Soloist, Mezzo-Soprano
She studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She has performed at the Royal Opera of London as Yetta Zimmerman in the world premiere of the opera Sophie’s Choice by Nicholas Maw, as well as in the roles of First Maid [Elektra], Nurse [Alfano Cyrano de Bergerac] and the title role in Queen of Spades, Kseniya's Nurse [Boris Godunov], Mother Goose and Baba the Turk [The Rake’s Progress], etc. She has also performed at the New Opera of Israel, the State Opera of Stuttgart, the English National Opera and the Opera North as Mistress Quickly [Falstaff], the English National Opera as Katisha [The Mikado], the English Touring Opera as Auntie [Peter Grimes] and Gertrud [Hänsel und Gretel], at the Glyndebourne Festival as Háta [The Bartered Bride/Prodaná nevěsta], at the Prague National Theater, Opera North at Ravenna Festival as the Fortune Teller [Julietta], at the Buxton Festival as Hate [Armide] and Bostana [The Barber of Baghdad/Der Barbier von Bagdad], at Holland Park as Marcellina [The Marriage of Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro], at the Opera Theater of Dublin as Kabanicha [Káťa Kabanová], etc. She has also sung in concerts and oratorios (Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mahler’s The Song of the Earth, etc.). In the USA, she first performed in 2009 in concerts at the Grant Park Music Festival. She has recorded many works, including: Le nozze di Figaro, Sophie’s Choice, Lulu, and Orpheus in the Underworld [Orphée aux enfers] (Chandos, Hyperion, Jay Records, NMC Reocordings, etc). At the Greek National Opera she interpreted the Mother (Mavra, 2007/08).
