Themis Moumoulidis

He was born in Ptolemais, Northern Greece. He studied economics, film and theater (in Athens, Paris and Sofia) and attended the annual course on Cultural Affairs Management (Brussels). He first appeared in theater in 1982, as assistant director to Alexis Damianos (Matomenos Gamos [Bodas de Sangre]). He has directed more than 100 performances (Athens Festival, National Theater of Northern Greece, International Festival of Patras, Athens Concert Hall, National Symphony Orchestra of Greek Public Radio and Television (ERT), Municipal Regional Theaters (DIPETHE) in several Greek cities, etc.). He has also directed two short films and a television movie. He has written or collaborated on writing screenplays for films and theater and has translated theater texts. He was artistic director of the Byron Festival Athens (1987-1994) and the Municipal Regional Theaters of Volos (1995-1999) and Patras (1999-2007). He was co-founder of the Vrilissia Festival Athens (1986). In September 2007, he established the organization 5i Epochi Technis (Fifth Season of Art), which is active in the fields of theatrical productions (Kappa Theater), films, educational programs and publications. He worked with the GNO once, as director of Die Dreigroschenoper [The threepenny Opera], presented as a co-production with the Volos Center of Musical Theater and the Volos DIPETHE (1998-1999).
