Amalia Moutousi
Actress
She was born in Athens and is the daughter of Nonika Galinea and sister of Arietta Moutousi. She studied at the Karolos Koun Art Theater, as well as acting in New York. She co-founded and collaborated with Thission Theater (1985-98), participating in all the productions directed by Mihail Marmarinos (Euripides’ Medea, Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Sophocles’ Electra etc.). She has also worked with Yorgo Voyagis in the plays With strength from Kifisia (Me dinami apo tin Kifisia, 2006) written by D. Kechaidis and E. Haviaras, Sarah Kane’s Cleansed (Katharoi pia, 2000), Sophocles’ Antigone (2007, 2007) and Molière’s Amphitryon (2012), with Yannis Kokkos in Aeschylus’ Oresteia (2000), with Yannis Houvardas in Racine’s Bérénice and Lessing’s Miss Sara Sampson (2006, 2007), while she played the title role in Hofmannsthal’s Electra, staged at the Athens Concert Hall. She has also played the title role in Euripides’ Medea, directed by Antonis Antipas and staged at the Epidaurus Theater (2011). She taught acting at Patras University and the Embros Theater School (1995-2000). Moutousi starred in Elias Yannakakis’ film Joy (Hara, 2014). She is the recipient of the Best Actress Award from the Hellenic Film Academy (2013), Best Performance Award at the Alexandria Film Festival, while she received a special mention at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. She has appeared with the GNO as Anna in Stravinsky’s opera Mavra, staged along with The Seven Deadly Sins [Die Sieben Todsünden] and Gianni Schicchi during the 2007/08 season.
