
Aleksandar (Sasa) Neskov
Dancer
He was born in Serbia. He studied dance at the National School of Dance, Novi Sad and worked in Serbian National Ballet. In 1991 he became principal dancer at the National Ballet of Hungary (Pécs) and guest dancer at the Ballet of the National Opera of Hungary (Budapest). He joined the GNO Ballet in 1996 and in 1998 he became a Principal Dancer. Since then he has danced leading roles in such ballets as: Coppélia (Saint-Léon - Metsis/Delibes), Don Quixote (de Pian/Minkus), The Nutcracker (Zanella/Tchaikovsky), The Sleeping Beauty (Zelensky-Peitipa/Tchaikovsky), The Wayward Daughter [La fille mal gardée] (Ashton/Gorsky-Hertel), Paquita (Chatzis/Minkus), Romeo and Juliet (Zanella/Prokofiev), Zorba the Greek (Massine/Theodorakis), Eugene Onegin (Muhamedov/Tchaikovsky), The temple dancer [La bayadère] (Petipa/Minkus), Giselle (Muhamedov/Adam), Everyone waltz! [Alles Walzer!] (Zanella/Johann Strauss-Mahler), etc. He danced in ballet segments in various operas, such as Aida (Odeon of Herodes Atticus, 2009) and Carrer’s Marathon-Salamis (2004/05). In addition, he has danced in works choreographed by Milko Sparemblek, Vladimir Logunov, István Herczog, Anasheh Partai, Germinal Casado, Pierre Lacotte, Karole Armitage, Charis Mandafounis, Kenneth MacMillan, etc. In 2003 he received the Best Male Performance Award from the Ministry of Culture. He passed away on 4 May 2020.
