Nicola Panzer
Director
She studied music theatre directing with Götz Friedrich at the Hamburg University of Music. While finishing her diploma cum laude she started as assistant director at the Hamburg State Opera. She has worked at the ROH, Salzburg and Bayreuth festivals, as well as in Los Angeles, Madrid, Moscow, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, São Paulo. As an independent opera director since 1998 she staged Stockhausen’s Aus den sieben Tagen and five productions in the Opera Piccola series at the Hamburg Opera, Hänsel und Gretel in Dortmund, Riders to the Sea and Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Frankfurt, The Bartered Bride in Linz, Nabucco at the Opera Festival Immling, Les Mamelles de Tirésias in Leipzig, Le nozze di Figaro, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Die Zauberflöte at Daejeon Spring Festival, South Korea. Her collaboration with Robert Wilson began with Cosmopolitan Greetings (1988) and Parsifal (1991) in Hamburg. Recently she worked as co-director on Handel’s Messiah (Mozart Week, Salzburg) and Turandot (Opéra national de Paris). // Last update of the biography: February 2022.
