
Kyros Patsalidis
Soloist, Baritone
He was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. He studied music and classical singing at the Athens Conservatoire under Kiki Morfoniou, as well as law at Athens University. With a scholarship from the Cyprus Fund for Music and Fine Arts, he completed his studies in Vienna, studying voice and opera repertoire under baritones Walter Berry and Gottfried Hornik. He attended classical song seminars by Costas Paschalis, Luigi Alva, Ileana Cotrubas and Jeannette Pilou. He studied opera repertoire in Milan under conductor Antonio Tonini and singing technique under Arrigo Pola and S. Badi. In 1995, he won First Prize in the International Song Contest at the State Opera in Budapest and began an international career appearing as Giorgio Germont [La traviata] in Vienna and as Belcore (L'elisir d'amore) in Verona. Since then, he appears at major opera houses and concert halls in Europe, as well as at international festivals. He was honored for his artistic contribution to the musical life in Cyprus. He has an especially wide repertoire. He has appeared at the Athens Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall. He works with the GNO since 1989. To date, he has sung starring and basic roles in at least 13 operas and two operettas, participating in 20 productions and/or revivals, including: Il barbiere di Siviglia, Die Zauberflöte, Apaches of Athens, Rigoletto, Macbeth, La traviata, Marathon-Salamis, L'Assedio di Corinto (2004, Ancient Corinth, Cultural Olympiad Events). He participated in the premières of the Greek works The manuscripts of Manuel Salinas (1999/2000) by Periklis Koukos and Haris Vrondos’ The Possessed (2000/01). // Last update of the biography: December 2018 - The list of the productions below is continually updated.
