Gina Poulou
Soloist, Soprano
She studied piano at the National Conservatory in Ηalandri, Athens, and voice at the National Conservatory with Stamos-Kolasis, graduating with scholarship, honors and 1st prize. She went to study in the Julliard School in New York on "Maria Callas" scholarship . She studied with Charles Kellys. Then she won the "Lilian Voudouris" scholarship. She had lessons from Plácido Domingo and Robert Myers (Metropolitan Opera of New York) and from the soprano Ruth Falcon (Mannes Music School, New York) and attended seminars under Luciano Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland. She won prizes in international competitions, such as: Competition "Maria Callas" (Grand Prix, Athens, 1988), Competition Opera Palm Beach (1992), International contest "Roza Ponselle" (1992), Marseille Opera competition (1997) and others. She sang many roles in Greece and abroad, has participated in concerts and opera recitals, musicals and contemporary song concerts in cooperation with major international and Greek artists. At the GNO, she first appeared in 1990, as Queen of the night (Die Zauberflöte) and since then sings leading and principal roles, such as: Anna Glavari (Die Lustige Witwe), Atalanta (Serse), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Male fox (The Cunning Little Vixen/Příhody lišky Bystroušky), Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Marfa (The Tsar's Bride), Clorida (La Cenerentola), Gabrielle (La Vie parissiene), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) etc. She has worked with the Thessaloniki State Orchestra , the Orchestra of Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls. She teaches at the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts, the Fame Studio (Ant1) and the National Conservatory and deliver seminars on singing techniques in Greece and America. // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of productions below is continually updated.
