
Petros Salatas
Soloist, Baritone
Greek baritone, he studied at the Department of Theology and the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens (voice diploma with honours and first prize, Lina Tentzeri’s class). He continued with postgraduate studies (Alexander S. Onassis Foundation) in Hannover and in Italy. He attended seminars with Renato Bruson, Raina Kabaivanska and K. Smith. He sang lead roles in productions of the Hannover Music Academy and Thessaloniki Concert Hall (Scarpia, Tosca). At the Greek National Opera he has performed such roles as Count Monterone (Rigoletto), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Fisherman (Die Flut), Sam (Der Engel auf dem Schiff), Roberto (I vespri siciliani), Forester (Příhody lišky Bystroušky), Johann (Werther), Cromow (Die lustige Witwe) etc. He was a finalist in the 51st International Singing
Contest Francisco Viñas and a finalist with award in the International Competition Benvenuto Franchi. He sang for the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (HBC) arias by Verdi and Mozart with the HBC Variety Orchestra. He sang the role of Minoas in Marielli Sfakianakis’ world premiere of Minos (Knossos archaeological site, Crete) and the Nurse in Nikos Kypourgos’ Medea (GNO, Summer Nostos Festival). // Last update: February 2020
