Angelos Samartzis
Soloist, Tenor
Greek tenor, he was born in Athens and grew up in Rhodes. He studied opera at the Karlsruhe University of Music and continued postgraduate studies at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy, Berlin. His mentors are Julia Varady and Raina Kabaivanska. He has attended masterclasses with Jane Henschel, Cheryl Studer, Robert Dean Smith, Marlis Petersen. He has performed Hoffman (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Faust, Rodolfo (La bohème), Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), Javier Moreno (Luisa Fernanda), Narraboth (Salome), Marquis de Châteauneuf (Zar und Zimmermann), Giraffier (Les deux aveugles). In 2016 he participated in the overproduction
of the Wroclaw Opera «Spanish night with Carmen – Zarzuela Show» with a total of 30.000 spectators, which took place on the occasion of the city celebrations as a European Capital of Culture. He was a permanent member of the Nordhausen Theatre (2016/17), and currently belongs to the permanent potential of the Saarbrücken State Theatre, where he interprets such roles as Rodolfo, Narraboth and Ismaele (Nabucco).
