Petros Skendros

Soloist, Tenor
He was born in Athens and raised in Aliartos of Voiotia. He took classical guitar lessons at a very young age and subsequently studied voice with Efi Vasileiadou. He graduated from the classes of Albina Zachariadou and Medea Iasonidou at the Art Conservatory [Odeio Technis] with a diploma in Solo Singing. He attended lessons in vocal refinement taught by Marousa Xyni and Andreas Kouloumbis. He has held recitals at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the Ancient Stadium at Delphi, the "Botsaris" Museum in Nafpaktos, etc. He participated as a soloist in the Panhellenic Choir Festival of Nafpaktos, under conductor Todor Kabakchiev He interpreted the leading role in the opera Bastien and Bastienne [Bastien und Bastienne] at the Municipal Theater of Ioannina (2005) and appeared at the Thessaloniki Opera in Carl Orff's The Wise Girl [Die Kluge] (2007). He has been collaborating with the GNO since the 2005/06 artistic season. He took part in the Children's Opera productions: The Tale of Tsar Saltan, the Beautiful Tsarevna and the Enchanted Swan (2009/10), Orpheus in the Underworld [Orphée aux enfers] (2005/06), Hansel and Gretel [Hänsel und Gretel] (Herodeion, 2006/07) and The Elixir of Love [L' elisir d'amore] (2004). He also sang a small part in the opera A Masked Ball [Un ballo in maschera] (Olympia Theater, 2011/12).
