He was born in Iowa, USA. He graduated from the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. In his 20-year-long career he has collaborated with major opera companies and symphony orchestras. He has sung in more than 400 opera performances in the New York City Opera, Opera Omaha, Tulsa Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, etc. He has collaborated as a soloist in concerts with the Richmond Symphony, Boston Baroque Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic (Canada), in works by Handel, Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Zemlinsky and Vaughan Williams.
