
Anna Sohn
Soloist, Soprano
Korean soprano, she studied singing at the Seoul National University and at the Milan Conservatory. She also studied with Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto as well as with Olaf Bär in Dresden. In 2004 she won the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest and in 2011 she won the second prize at the 61st ARD International Music Competition. She has sung such roles as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Violetta Valéry (La traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Musetta (La bohème), Fusako (Henze’s Gogo no Eiko / Das verratene Meer) and the title role from Jules Massenet’s Manon. She has made guest appearances at numerous European opera houses and festivals, e.g. at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Teatro Verdi in Sardinia as well as in Rome, Paris, Avignon, Porto, Luxembourg, Budapest and Zurich. Since the 2018/19 season she has been a permanent member of Dortmund Opera, where she sang to great acclaim Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Liù (Turandot) and Brunhilda in the German premiere of
