Yorgos Stafetas

He was born in Athens in 1940. He studied classical singing and theater. He teaches classical and art song, as well as opera and speech therapy at the Andreas L. Kordos Conservatory. He participated in the recording of the opera Conroy and his copies (1995). He has published five poetry collections. He collaborated with the GNO in 1966-1999. He joined the GNO Chorus in 1966, and from 1971 to 1999 he appeared in some 63 productions and/or revivals, singing feature and supporting roles in 24 operas and six operettas, including: Madama Butterfly, Tosca, La bohème, Adriana Lecouvreur, Die Zauberflöte, Les contes d'Hoffmann, Gianni Schicchi, Manon Lescaut, Boris Godunov, Otello, Don Quixote, The fire [I fotia], Conroy and his copies, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Die Kluge, Boris Godunov, Falstaff, etc. He sang basic roles in the operettas: The godson [O vaftistikos]. The apaches of Athens [I apachides ton Athinon], Das Dreimädelhaus, Die Fledermaus, Die lustige Witwe and Das Land des Lächelns.
