Vladimiros Symeonidis

Conductor
Born in Katerini, Greece, he studied at the Municipal Conservatory of his hometown and at the Department of Music Studies (AUTH), where he completed advanced music theory with Christos Samaras. He continued his studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts (1993/98) and graduated with a diploma in conducting with Uroš Lajovic and composition with Erich Urbanner. He was the director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (2006/11) and collaborated with orchestras and music ensembles in Greece and abroad (Austrian Radio Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, Symphonic Orchestras of Thessaloniki, Cyprus and Athens, Patras Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, die reihe etc.). He conducted opera and ballet productions at the GNO. Moreover, he recorded for the Greek and Austrian Radio, as well as for Naxos. He has taught at the Department of Music Studies (AUTH) and at the Department of Music Science and Art (University of Macedonia). Since 2001 he has been teaching orchestra conducting at the Thessaloniki State Conservatory. He founded the chamber orchestra «contra tempo» (Thessaloniki, 2012).
