She was born in Veroia in 1958. She studied solo singing with Kaiti Papalexopoulou and piano with Marios Laskaris at the National Conservatory of Greece, graduating with the highest grade unanimously and an Award for Academic Excellence (1983). She continued her studies on a scholarship of the "Maria Callas" Foundation at the Music Academy of Cologne under Josef Metternich, Birgit Nilsson, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (1984-87). Subsequently, she also studied under Vera Rózsa in London. Her debut was as Iphigenia in Iphigenie en Tauride at the Opera of Passau, Germany. She has performed in recitals, concerts and opera performances in major opera houses in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Greece. She has worked with prominent conductors, such as Sawallisch, Mehta, Pappano, Jacobs, Viotti, et al. As a soloist, she regularly collaborated with the Frankfurt Opera (1980-1990) and the Opera of Basel (1980-1994). In those theaters, she sand leading roles in operas such as: Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Il turco in Italia, Il viaggio a Reims, and Theodora. Her recordings include Cavalli's La Calisto (label: Harmonia Mundi), Periklis Koukos's Conroy and his Copies [O Konroua kai oi kopies tou], "Sonia Theodoridou meets Manos Hadjidakis" (label: Seirios), etc. In Greece, she has repeatedly collaborated with the Athens State Orchestra and the Athens Concert Hall. During the years 1999-2004 she appeared in the GNO productions of Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (1999/2000), The Birds [Ornithes] (1999/2000, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Il corsaro (2000/01; a co-production with the Athens Concert Hall) and Cavalleria rusticana (2003/04). // Last update of the biography: February 2021 - The list of the productions below is continually updated. .
