Mara Thrasyvoulidou
Soloist, Soprano
She was born in Nicosia. At the age of 15, she received her piano diploma from the Cyprus Academy "Solon Michaelides." She continued her piano and classical singing lessons at the Athens Conservatory and graduated from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts, receiving her Degree in Solo Singing with the highest grade awarded unanimously, the 1st Prize in memory of Marios Varvoglis and a money prize. At the same time, she would attend the Athens Conservatory Drama School. She holds a degree from the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens. She attended seminars in classical singing by baritone Kostas Paschalis and bass George Pappas. She has worked in television and cinema and has collaborated with the National Broadcasting Foundation as well as the free theatre. Her first major theatrical success was her participation in the musical Annie. She has taken part in the Athens Festival, the International Festival of Nafplio and several concerts around Greece. She has also performed in concerts and recitals in Vienna and the Alexandria Opera House. She teaches voice at the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts. She worked with the GNO during the years 1991-99 interpreting leading and supporting soprano roles in: Die Fledermaus (Ida), Das Land des Lächelns (Franzi), The Godson [O vaftistikos] (Vivika and Kiki), Les contes d'Hoffmann (Stella) and The Apaches of Athens [Oi apachides ton Athinon] (Vera). // Last update of the biography: March 2000 - The list of the productions below is continuallu updated.
