Dionysos Tsantinis

He was born in Athens. He studied classical singing under Dionyssios Troussas at the Athenaeum Conservatory, Athens. Having won scholarships from the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation and the State Scholarship Foundation, Greece, he continued with postgraduate studies at the Berlin University of Arts under Robert Gambill, as well as at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome under Renata Scotto. He has appeared in many European opera houses, such as the Staatsoper Berlin im Schiller Theater, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Dresdner Philharmonie, Opera Antwerp, Opera Gent, Arnold Schönberg Center Vienna. He sang at the Rieti (Italy) and Rheinsberg (Germany) festivals, as well as in Ireland and Bulgaria. a highly extensive range of repertory, spanning from French baroque and Italian bel canto to German expressionism. He won first prize at the international Schloss Reinsberg competition (2007) and Best Male Voice at the “Alfredo Giacomotti” competition (2011). In 2014 he collaborated in the “Sinihiseis” Festival (Onasseio, Athens), in the production of the “Weil/Brecht opera project” by Contra Tempo orchestra (Thessaloniki 2014) as well as in the production of The Little Mahagonny & He who says yes [Mahagonny Songspiel, Der Jasager] (Thessaloniki Concert Hall). He has been working with the GNO since 2001 in such lead roles as Ribbing/Samuel (Un ballo in maschera), Sigonis Paschalis (The Cretan girl), Doctor/Servant (Macbeth), Doctor (The Murderess by Giorgos Koumetakis), Wagner (Faust), Dr. Grenvil (La traviata). He sang in the production of the Chamber Opera of Athens L'inganno felice (2009).
