Andreas Tselikas
Conductor
He was born in Athens. He began his studies in Greece with Theodore Antoniou (conducting), Nancy Toufexi (violin) and Dimitris Lionis (advanced music theory). Subsequently, he went to Austria to attend the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he did post-graduate studies inc onducting and composition with Leopold Hager, Erwin Acel and Herbert Lauermann. He attended conducting and chamber music seminars in the United States, Austria and Romania. He received the 1st Prize at the international Conducting Competition of the University of Vienna (2001-05), as well as the Encouragement Award at the 5th international competition for young conductors "Jean Sibelius" (Helsinki, 2005). Since 1998, he has conducted in major concert halls abroad (Vienna, Helsinki, Copenhagen) and in Greece (Athens Concert Hall, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Olympia Theater). He has conducted Athens State Orchestra, the Contemporary Music Orchestra of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Athens, the Helsinki Philharmonic and the Symphony Orchestra of the Finnish Radio (Helsinki). Honorary invitations allowed him to guest-conduct the Oradea and Satu Mare Philharmonic Orchestras (Romania), the Tirana Chamber Orchestra (Albania), the Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra and the music ensemble Alea III (Boston, USA). Since 1998, he has been resident conductor at the Symphony Orchestra of the City of Athens. From 2006 to 2010, he was associate conductor at the GNO. Among other performances, he conducted the ballet productions of Giselle, Eugene Onegin, Puss in Boots, Solitaire – Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune – Les Sylphides (2006-07).
