
Georgios Varvariotis
Dancer
He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He began dance training at the age of eight at Roula Kafantari Professional School of Ballet, and later at the Aspa Foutsi School of Dance. He attended classical dance seminars in Varna, as well as classical and contemporary dance seminars by prominent teachers in London. He then studied at the Vaganova / Kirov Ballet Academy in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), from which he graduated. He is a staff member of the GNO Ballet since 1994. He became a soloist in 1997 and principal dancer in 2001. To date he has danced in first roles, including Carmen (music by Rodion Shchedrin), Variations on white, Pas de deux, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Memories, Cinderella (music by Prokofiev), Zorba the Greek, The Cursed Snake [To katarameno fidi] (music by Hadjidakis), Le Corsaire, Pinocchio, Canto General, Don Quixote, La bayadère, Blood Wedding (music by Carlo Domeniconi, Emilio de Diego), The nutcracker, Raymonda (music by Glazunov), etc. He has also appeared in ballet segments in operas and operettas such as: The godson [O vaftistikos], Eugene Onegin, Die sieben Todsünden, etc. He has appeared at the Athens Concert Hall in the ballet Giselle.
