He was born in Milan on 01/08/1969. He studied singing under baritone Carlo Meliciani, contemporary literature at the State University of Milan and the Stanislavski acting method at the Actor's Lab drama school. In 1994 he won the competition As.Li.Co. of Milan. He made his debut at the Teatro Coccia in Novara and at famous opera houses of Lombardy, performing the roles of David (L’ Amico Fritz) and Belcore (L’ elisir d’ amore). In 1997, he was singled out at the Budapest Contest and made his debut at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona as Ford (Falstaff). He began his international career in 2000 at the Vienna State Opera as Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor). Then, he appeared in Zurich as Rodrigo (Don Carlos) and in Paris and Bilbao (I vespri Sicialiani, 2001). In 2005 he starred at the Metropolitan Opera of New York as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia). In 2008, he made his first appearance at the Royal Opera House in London as Marcello (La bohème). He has appeared at the Italian opera houses Teatro La Fenice, San Carlo, Teatro Verdi and La Scala in Milan, as well as in Hamburg, Geneva, Semperoper in Dresden, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, German Opera in Berlin, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Royal Opera House in London, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. His immense, mostly Italian, repertoire also includes: Macbeth, Il trovatore, Don Pasquale, I puritani, La favorita, Ernani, Aida, Attila, Otello, Madama Butterfly, Faust, Le nozze di Figaro, La traviata, etc. At the Greek National Opera he has performed in such operas as Attila and Rigoletto. // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of the productions below is complete.
