Krzysztof Warlikowski
Director
Polish director, born on 26/5/1962, he has been one of the most innovative artists in both theatre and opera for two decades. This has earned him many international recognitions including the “Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement” at the Venice Biennale in 2021. In the theatre, after renewing the interpretation of Greek tragedies and Shakespeare, he now invents his own dramaturgies which are imbued with the tragedies of the 20th century and the present days as well as his readings of the greatest contemporary writers (from Marcel Proust to John Maxwell Coetzee). On the lyrical stage, he imposes a vision on the works and a precision in the direction of the singers who open to him the doors of prestigious theatres and festivals worldwide such as the Bavarian State Opera, Salzburg Festival, Opéra national de Paris, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London) and La Monnaie in Brussels. He is the creator and artistic director of Nowy Teatr (New Theatre) in Warsaw and this is his first work for the Greek National Opera. // Last update of the biography: December 2022 - The list of the productions below is complete.
