She was born in Scarborough and studied fine arts at the Maidstone College of Art and set design at London’s Motley Theatre Design Course. She has worked in several opera productions, including: Norma, at the Opera North (Leeds); The Makropulos Affair [Věc Makropulos] and A midsummer might’s dream, at the English National Opera; Carmen (Beijing); Orpheus and Eurydice [Orfeo ed Euridice] (Vienna); The troubadour [Il trovatore], at the Opéra Bastille; Showboat and La bohème, at the Royal Albert Hall; The brief life [La Vida Breve]; Francesca da Rimini; Clowns [Pagliacci] and Djamileh, at the Opera North; Katia Kabanova [Káťa Kabanová] and The Swallow [La Rondine], at the Theatre La Fenice in Venice; The Knight of the Rose [Der Rosenkavalier], at the Bolshoi Theatre; The Clemency of Titus [La clemenza di Tito] (Dallas and London); Porgy and Bess; Fidelio and Nabucco, at Bregenz Festival, Austria; and, Don Carlo and The Girl of the West [La fanciulla del West], Zürich Opera House. In theater, she has collaborated with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre in London and various Broadway companies. She is a collaborating lecturer at the London College of Fashion. She has exhibited her work at the World Stage Design Exhibition (Toronto, 2005). For the GNO, she designed the costumes for the productions of The Prisoner [Il Prigioniero] and The Brief Life [La Vida Breve] (2006/07).
